Economies in Central and South-Eastern Europe should be less negatively impacted than Western economies by new social distancing restrictions that have been introduced in order to curb the increase in COVID-19 infections. In these countries, GDP share of gross value added in activities based on intensive social contacts is lower as compared with Western countries. Still, there are two exceptions: Greece and Croatia.
Contact-intensive activities refer to air transport, HoReCa, travel services, recreational and entertainment activities, support and administrative services.
